Hang out with Y-Breakaway - Free activities for youth aged 14-17 yrs.

YMCA is providing free activities for young people aged 14-17 yrs during the January and April holiday periods.

YMCA is one of a few providers in Auckland to be granted funding for this via the government?s (Ministry of Social Development) new Break Away initiative.

Targeting location within Auckland, Manukau and Waitakere Cities our team of youth facilitators will set up activities and sport for local youth to participate in or they can simply relax and listen to music.

"Our aim is to engage with as many young people as possible and provide an atmosphere where young people can have fun, relax, meet mates and feel safe" says Y-Breakaway Co ordinator Shamila Unka. "We put a lot of time into selecting and training our youth facilitators. They all have experience in youth work and can really relate to the young people in the areas we will operate from. We have a real great team".

The YMCA has a long and reputable history of working with youth in all types of situations and has a strong youth Raise up n Represent programme at the centres. We see this as another great opportunity to connect with our communities.

These free activities are available to all young people within Greater Auckland aged 14-17 years. There are no maximum numbers we want to see as many youth as would like to come.
